2020 interiors trends – from Cormar
We asked luxury Lancashire brand Cormar about the latest trends in interiors and which hues will be at the top of homeowners' wish lists in 2020…
Those of us who like to be ‘out there’ will be excited by a continuing use of bold colour in 2020.
"As an interior-loving nation, we’re still fond of jewel tones – midnight blues, bold magenta, blush pinks and emerald greens – but in 2020 we’ll see a new trend that suits the mood of the current world climate. A rebirth, a rising from the ashes, a bold new dawn," says Jess Contomichalos, Interior Stylist.
What better colours to support this phoenix-like ascent than a feisty display of burnt umber, sienna brown, earthy terracotta, mustard and bright ochres?
Take inspiration from Cormar’s imagery for Easy Clean Twist carpet collection, Primo Naturals – made up of warm earthy tones; a rich pecan; a wild honey and a warm walnut, creating a mindful and restful space, with on-trend rust and terracotta furnishings.
"Offset this exciting colour scheme by introducing a selection of textural soft furnishings and tactile accessories. This bold choice of colours works really well with natural wood, rattan, wicker and a splash of abstract art to bring the whole look together – a contemporary arrangement of dried foliage foraged from the woods will create instant impact and add a stylish designer touch," adds Jess.
If the ‘bold and the beautiful’ is not quite your thing – fear not! Whilst the obsession with botanical and greenery in 2019 may have been a little overwhelming for some of us, the general feel is still around but not as loud. So, where before it was full-on Amazon Rainforest, it’s now matured into a look that is easy on the eye and much more calming to live with. The bright, lime green tropical look has faded into the background (phew!) and in its place is a more considered, gentle green with organic and soothing qualities.
Take a look at Cormar’s shoot for their most recent carpet collection, Sensation Twist, pale, neutral tone carpet offset with loud, eclectic prints and furnishings.
Jess continues: "It’s no coincidence that the Dulux Colour of the Year 2020 was named as Tranquil Dawn – a cool, green shade which relaxes the senses and creates a peaceful haven in our homes. Combine soft greens with real foliage, textured weaves, macramé rope, soft metallics and touches of black iron to create a striking collection that will help to bring the outdoors in but with a difference for 2020!"
